Application Development

Our expertise encompasses spreadsheet design, auditing, programming with Visual Basic for Applications, and development of complete business solutions to satisfy complex and demanding requirements for applications that interact with databases, email clients and word-processing packages.

We aim to help you to realise the potential benefits that can be achieved through the building of an integrated set of spreadsheet templates. These can streamline the routine processes and make life easier for your employees.

We offer our experience and insights into the possibilities of application integration and interfacing to help small to medium businesses develop their potential.

We can redesign your spreadsheets to be self-auditing, helping to avoid errors that can creep into even the best-designed templates. This helps limit the risk of bad business decisions or formal reporting errors that can be expensive or even catastrophic for your business.

We can help you develop a 'house style' for all your documents that will give them a professional appearance.

We can offer one to one or small group training sessions tailored to your exact needs:

  • Basic through to Advanced Excel techniques via specific topic-based sessions
  • Visual Basic for Applications Programming - how to automate the mundane, everyday tasks that take up so much time
  • How to make self-auditing spreadsheets
  • How to integrate your spreadsheets with other software used by your business and create complete solutions.

We can cover the whole range of your requirements. Just contact us to discuss your needs. We are here to help.

Excel Statistical Analysis

Graphical presentation of data in a spreadsheet is a powerful visualisation tool that is often neglected in Excel. Excel has some limitations when approached through the program's interface.

We can add VBA functionality, using dynamic ranges to ensure that new data is added to existing plots.

We can show how regression lines can be drawn and fixed as data is filtered and viewed in different ways.

We can enhance your use of Excel to make your business more efficient and your information spreadsheets work for you.

Self-auditing Excel templates

  • How do you eliminate errors in spreadsheets?
  • Research has shown that 95% of spreadsheets examined are likely to contain significant errors - errors that affect the calculated outputs from the spreadsheet.
  • A lot of the risk can be taken out of spreadsheet use by proper design; spreadsheets that are self-auditing can help eliminate that risk.
  • We can show you how and teach best-practice techniques for developing your own templates.
  • We can also show you how to use commercially available auditing tools to check your existing templates for possible problems.

Excel front end with Access

Excel is used for small database applications, but there comes a point where the size or complexity of the task or data cries out for the multi-user, transactional capabilities of a true relational database. This does not mean giving up the use of Excel as the front end or data manipulation engine of the application.

Why not use Excel as the 'front-end' interface into your database?

We can develop such an interface based on your particular requirements.

We will show you how to get the best from a fusion of spreadsheet and database technology.

Risk Applications

We have developed applications in Excel using Monte Carlo simulation techniques that assess risk contingency allowances based on the accuracy of estimate data. The technique can easily be extended to other application areas where simulation techniques are the only methodology that can produce a usable result.

We also have familiarity with commercially available software packages such as @Risk from Palisade, Crystal ball from Decisioneering and Pertmaster.
